L’Alea des Possibles, Madagascar - 2015

“It’s a new beginning for social circus, identity and diversity of united Africa….”

L’Aléa des Possibles is a social circus school established in the outskirts of Antananarivo, Madagascar. For more than 10 years, the school has been offering both professional circus training aiming at the promotion of arts and culture, and a social development program for the children in the under priviledged neighbourhoods of Antananarivo. In 2004, Virginie Lavenant, circus artist, creates l’Aléa des Possibles with the purpose to proactively stimulate human co-existence through the enhancement of the world’s cultural and artistic diversity. The company is set up in Madagascar in 2005, and imparts its passion to local artists, facilitators, children from underprivileged neighbourhoods. Interdisciplinarity, cross-disciplinarity, artistic expression but also and mainly each and everyone’s creativity intended for identity enhancement. In 2009, she opens ChapitoMetisy, the first social circus school in Madagascar, in one of Tana’s working-class neighbourhoods, where l’Aléa des Possibles is based, which positions itself as a space for training, encounters, discoveries, dialogues, opening onto the world through artistic practice and optimum cultural enrichment for the youth (critical thinking and questing mind, emotion, dream), professionalisation of local artists. Since its establishment in Madagascar, the company managed to set up a truly multicultural troupe that evolves with time and projects. These encounters resulted in several creations, which have been touring within the Indian Ocean region, both countrywide and out of the country. Rich of cultural exchanges and international trips, the team will present an inspirational show during the Festival.
